About Us

Definition and mandate

In partnership with the municipality of St-Joseph-de-Coleraine and the Ministry of the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change, the organization of the Footpaths of the 3 mountains of Coleraine  has for mission  to discover the exceptional protected territory of the 3 Mountains, with an area  of about 1200 hectares, by means of  its network of 20 kilometers of trails  and its educational program. Almost a third of this territory has the status of  ecological reserve which is a category of protected area mainly for science and nature protection. A project is underway to increase its surface area.

Non-profit organization founded in January 2000, the Footpaths of the 3 mountains of Coleraine owes its existence to the desire to preserve the natural character of this exceptional territory and its access for the general public.

The corporation operates trails in an area of approximately 1,200 hectares of protected mountain forest.  In 2003, 396 hectares will be protected in the form of an ecological reserve. The  Ecological reserve  of the Serpentine-de-Coleraine is the  67th Quebec ecological reserve . Exceptionally, the public is authorized to circulate there for educational purposes, by the network of hiking trails maintained by the 3 Monts.

Goals of the corporation

  • Maintain a network of safe and accessible hiking trails;

  • Contribute to the development of the region;

  • Offer and organize recreational, educational and tourist activities intended for the entire population;

  • Promote outdoor activities, healthy lifestyles and environmental protection, in particular the importance of ecological reserves.
